Have you ever considered giving CBD products to your cats and dogs? If not, it might be high time to look into it!

With more than half the country already implementing some type of medical cannabis program, and multiple states having legalized it entirely, it’s no surprise that CBD products are finding their way into the veterinary world too. Humans aren’t the only ones who can benefit tremendously from this cannabinoid; some pets are known to do very well with veterinarian-certified CBD products too.

When it comes to animals, mammals specifically, the correct blend of CBD and secondary ingredients is crucial and could make a world of difference in the health and comfort of your pets. This is because all mammals have an endocannabinoid system just like we do!

Industrial hemp, which is legal in all 50 states, works great in many animals to treat conditions like seizures, inflammation, anxiety, pain and so much more . So far, positive results have been reported from owners of dogs, cats, horses, rodents, and even one domesticated female skunk. And there’s already a niche for this market, with businesses like Canna-Pet and Reilly’s HempVet proving quite successful.

“We guarantee that the pet will have a positive, therapeutic reaction. Everything we do is based on science,” says Bill Reilly, founder of company Reilly’s HempVet. “It’s health and wellness. It all comes down to wanting to make the supplements available to pets, as they should be, Reilly said. We had the sophistication and research to do that. We had people coming up to us at trade shows with these positive, anecdotal results on the human level, and thanking us for putting this in the pet category.”

Keep in mind that products with zero percent THC are standard for treating pets. Animals’ THC receptors work differently than ours, and large amounts could cause a drop in blood pressure, sometimes to a dangerous level.

As is probably expected, CBD for pets hasn’t been approved by the Food and Drug Administration just. Even though practically all cannabis-related studies are performed on mice, the FDA claims more research is needed before they can endorse it for pets. Veterinarians are barred from writing prescriptions for CBD products and often times, they’re leery of even suggesting it (although many still do).

Even so, many pet owners wholeheartedly vouch for CBD, and products are not difficult to find online along with an abundance of helpful advice. If you’re interested in buying CBD for your own pets, check out these items from Joy Organics. And make sure to subscribe to our newsletter for 20% off!
