Can Cannabidiol Actually Treat Any Condition?

Cannabidiol heals
Written by Joe Powers

If you take CBD, does that make you instantly healthy – to the point of never getting sick or suffering from any kind of ailment?

Short answer, no. CBD is not bulletproof. Nor is CBD the the be-all end-all solution that will cure any condition under the sun. Although there might not be such a thing as substance that can cure, prevent, or heal everything; cannabidiol truly has been shown to. at the very least, help relieve a myriad of medical conditions.

What is CBD?

CBD (cannabidiol) is one of 113 known phytocannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. CBD is a unique compound because it’s very useful but it doesn’t have any psychoactive, mind-altering effects. There are multiple types of finished (after the compound is extracted) CBD products including:

cannabidiol

Cannabidiol can treat many ailments

CBD companies will continue to innovate and create new methods to deliver CBD in unique ways. Every new type of CBD product will help us become more precise in delivering CBD to areas that are in need of treatment. Inhaling a CBD vape can help you quickly get the CBD into your system and has one of the highest bioavailabilities. Whereas, eating CBD and consuming it orally will yield slower results but might last longer than inhaling CBD.

What can CBD do? Cannabidiol (CBD) is known to support patients with numerous ailments. According to a medical report published last year, CBD helps with:

  • Gout
  • Schizophrenia
  • Diabetes
  • Pain
  • Acne
  • Inflammation
  • Epilepsy
  • And much more

This is only a short list and there are many more ailments CBD can support and it’s even known to benefit pets as well. Of course, additional research is needed in this industry and more we understand how to differentiate therapeutic CBD from mainstream, recreational cannabis, the more we are able to precisely utilize the powerful effects of CBD and other cannabinoids.

How Does CBD React Inside of You?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is reported to act positively on the CB2 receptors throughout the hippocampus and the entire central nervous system. The hippocampus is the center of memory, emotion, and higher though processes. That said, it’s believed that CBD has a much weaker affiliation with the CB1 receptor, however, the minimal amount of interaction between the two is still beneficial for managing epileptiform and seizure activity.

In any case, this cannabinoid molecule can help contribute to enhancing and balancing the overall homeostasis within the mind and throughout the body. These CBD-based products are in need of more solid legal framework – worldwide, since only a few cannabinoid-based medications are FDA approved consumer use.

What Are The Clinical Trials Saying About CBD?

CBD clinical trials are currently studying this compound as fast as they possibly can. As of now, there are hundreds of CBD clinical trials looking over several conditions. Interestingly enough, as you scroll through these clinical trials, most – if not all – are studying the isolated individual CBD molecule and not the full spectrum of cannabinoids.

This can either do harm or good, but it solely depends on the individual and the condition being treated. Each person is different and one could need a full spectrum of cannabinoids, while the other individual may just need isolated cannabinoid compounds. However, based on what we know of about endocannabinoid system (ECS), all cannabinoids working together are essential for our overall health.

The more we clearly define and understand all cannabinoids, the more we can fully make a better analysis. In the future, science will have more answers for us in terms of what cannabidiol products are best and how they can help us.

Bonus question: Can CBD “Literally” Stop A Bullet?

No. CBD cannot stop a bullet.

However, according to Culture Magazine, there’s an Amsterdam company (Hemp Works) offering a bulletproof jacket made of hemp. This jacket, called Hemp Hoodlamb, rated at a level II-A and was tested to stop a .22, 9mm, and .357 sized bullet. For $7,000, you can have a bulletproof jacket made of industrial hemp – therefore, making hemp technically a bulletproof substance.
