Which Cannabis Strains Have The Most CBD?

Written by Jack Woodhouse

For a long time, the only thing cannabis users have been interested in is THC – the cannabinoid responsible for the ‘high’ associated with cannabis use, as well as the ‘munchies’ and the red eyes, of course. But not anymore.

Much attention has turned to CBD, the non-intoxicating and second most prevalent cannabinoid in the cannabis plant. This is because CBD, while not causing any mind-altering effects, has been shown by scientific research to offer a huge amount of therapeutic benefits. These include anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, and analgesic effects.

This surge in popularity has resulted in more and more growers, smokers and patients becoming a lot more interested in the CBD content of their cannabis than ever before.

But which strains have the highest amounts of CBD? Let’s take a look at some of the most popular.

Cannatonic

As one of the original CBD-rich cannabis strains, Cannatonic can offer anywhere between as 5:1 to 1:1 CBD to THC ratio. With this even-keeled cannabinoid profile, Cannatonic is a mild-mannered strain perfect for unwinding with.

Charlotte’s Web

This is the most well-known high CBD strain. Charlotte’s Web was developed in 2011 by the Stanley brothers. It is named after Charlotte Figi, a young girl who suffered from Dravet syndrome and who was at the centre of a bid for cannabis legalization in the U.S. Due to negligible THC levels, Charlotte’s Web is considered non-psychoactive.

ACDC

ACDC is a popular CBD strain. It usually produces a heavily CBD-dominant cannabinoid profile, often as much as 20:1. It is ideal for daily medicinal use, with many patients using it to manage pain, anxiety, and depression.

Dinamed CBD

Dinamed CBD by Dinafem is a strain that produces very little THC and consistently more than 10% CBD. Often made into oil, Dinamed CBD is even being grown legally in Switzerland for the rapidly growing ‘cannabis light’ market.

Candida

A high-CBD strain from Medical Marijuana Genetics, Candida is the result of a cross between ACDC and Harlequin hybrid. It boasts a 20:1 CBD to THC ratio.
