Most people have experienced the unpleasantries that follow a night of too much drinking. The pounding headache and severe nausea is enough to make most people pledge to never drink again. Moreover, a study conducted by researchers at the University of Kentucky determined that CBD reduced alcohol-related liver damage and neurodegeneration by nearly 50 percent. During the study, lab mice were injected with enough alcohol to cause life-threatening seizures, and then followed up by a transdermal injection of CBD.
“This experiment found similar magnitudes of neuroprotection following both routes of administration; transdermal CBD decreased FJB + cells in the entorhinal cortex by 56.1% (p < 0.05), while IP CBD resulted in a 50.6% (p < 0.05) reduction in FJB + cells,” the study notes. “These results demonstrate the feasibility of using CBD transdermal delivery systems for the treatment of alcohol-induced neurodegeneration.”
While this is definitely promising news, it doesn’t mean that it’s ok to go out and frequently binge drink. The damages of alcohol can be life changing and irreversible. However, it’s good to know that a little bit of CBD could be just what you need to feel better after an occasional night of partying.
